第23回国際環境疫学会年次総会レポート
2011年9月13日から16日に、スペインのバルセロナで開催された第23回国際環境疫学会年次総会 (23rd Annual Conference of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE)) に出席してきました。バルセロナは、カタルーニャ州の州都として、スペインでも独自の文化を築いてきた街です。地中海沿岸に位置する港湾都市であり、アントニ・ガウディをはじめとする有名な建築家の作品が多数みられる世界都市です。まさに、food environmentとbuilt environmentの宝庫といえる都市でしょう。
ISEEは、国際学術雑誌EPIDEMIOLOGYの母体となる国際学会であり、年次総会では、例年、環境保健を中心に幅広い分野の演題が発表されています。今回の総会では、60以上の国々から1200人を超える出席者が参加しました。疫学・衛生学分野が関与したものとして、以下の三演題の発表がありました。
Application of spatio-temporal regression model accounting for Asian dust (desert dust) to regulatory air quality data in Japan
Residential proximity to major roads and placental weight relative to birth weight
Growing social and geographic inequalities in all-cause mortality, Japan, 1970 to 2005
